This number is called by different names in different regions. It is known as Shawni in Minab, Shouni in Firuzabad and Shani in Hajiabad Bandar Abbas. Shahani date is one of the most important and abundant fruits of Fars province and includes about 90 percent of Jahrom’s palm trees. It is a medium-term and late-term number and is very desirable. Shahani date is the second largest date in Iran in terms of cultivated area, it is scattered in different parts of the country and it is cultivated in different cities of Fars province as well as in Jiraft, Khanuj, Saravan, Hajiabad and Tabas. Due to its high sweetness and the beautiful color of its dates, this variety has a lot of domestic and foreign consumption.
